Fixed-wing VTOL UAS

MASID-1

Multi-mission Aerial Surveillance and Intelligence Drone

A fixed-wing uncrewed aircraft for reconnaissance that takes off and lands vertically, developed for Philippine defense.

Takes off like a quadrotor, flies like an airplane

Four lift rotors raise the aircraft straight up. Once it is flying fast enough, the wing carries it and a single pusher propeller drives it forward.

Airframe

The structure that carries every load. In forward flight the wing lifts the aircraft.

Lift rotors

Four lift rotors raise the aircraft vertically and hold it in a hover. They are typically not operated during cruise.

Cruise propulsion

A pusher propeller drives the aircraft in forward flight.

Power

Stores energy and delivers it to the motors, the payload, and the avionics.

Flight control

Facilitates transition to wing-borne flight, and allows control during cruise and loiter.

Payload

A stabilized ISR sensor gives the operator a steady view of the ground. Modular design allows for swapping different payloads.

Packs into a case, flies in minutes

The wings, booms, and tail come off, so the aircraft travels in one hard case with its ISR payload and the GCS. At the site it goes back together and is ready to fly in minutes.

Flies autonomously and safely

The operator picks a location using the GCS. The aircraft flies there on its own and circles overhead, keeping the area below in view, anywhere within line of sight of the GCS.

The aircraft is drawn larger than scale and the flight is sped up.
